After the inaugural tournament, the Cervezas Victoria Marbella Master, it seemed that in the remainder of 2020 there would be no more professional padel due to the crisis of the Covid 19.
However, the Estrella Damm Open (28 June to 5 July 2020) will put a drop of hope in bringing back the best padel in the world.
After the confinement derived from a health crisis that forced us to stay at home, leaving the padel courts desolate and abandoned, where the bounces, the cheers of the public and the emotion of winning a game were left mute, it returns what all padel fans were waiting for.
In this new normality, padel clubs have reopened and professionals have returned to their daily training to prepare for the first tournament of the Post Covid 19 era. From 28 June to 5 July, the Madrid Arena will reopen its doors to make way for the event that will mark the return of the World Padel Tour competition.
“The Estrella Damm Open will be the event where you can see the best padel players on the planet competing again”Nerea Díaz Maroto
News of great enthusiasm for the professionals, but not so good for the public, since due to sanitary measures it will be played behind closed doors. Measures that the WPT has developed in collaboration with the Madrid City Council to take care of even the smallest detail of the health of the attendees, thus ensuring their safety.
Similarly, the organization of the circuit continues to plan the official calendar for 2020. The dates and venues have not yet been decided, but the respective changes will soon be announced. What is already known is that the second round of the WPT, the Madrid Open City Council, will be played from 12 to 19 July at the same venue as the Estrella Damm Open.
In a few days, padel fans will be able to enjoy the matches via streaming. Get ready, the best padel in the world is coming back.
