The World Padel Tour is the most important professional padel circuit in the world. The WPT has a series of requirements that must be met to be part of it and play the official events.

First of all, you have to keep in mind that to become a WPT professional you have to prepare yourself well:

  1. Mainly, train hard and consistently to prove to be a great professional. 
  2. Have a good physical preparation and a good technique and tactics in the game.

Also, in order to be part of the WPT and play with the biggest players, you need to meet certain requirements set out in the WPT technical regulations:

  • For the men’s category:

Participation in a WPT Circuit tournament will be limited to 100 pairs in the Master tournaments and 96 pairs in the Open and Challenger tournaments. 

  • For the women’s category:

Participation will be limited to 60 couples in the Master tournaments, and 56 in the Open and Challenger tournaments, although the WPT Sports Department will have the power to increase this number if it considers it is beneficial for the development of the event in particular and the Tour in general. 

WPT REQUIREMENTS

  1. Be in the official WPT ranking.
  2. Be in the top 25 positions of the F.E.P. ranking.
  3. Be in the top 25 positions of the ranking in any of the following circuits.
  4. Be in the top 12 positions of the ranking in one of the following regional circuits: Galicia, Navarra and Basque Country.
  5. Be in the top 8 positions of the ranking in one of the following regional circuits: Aragón, Cantabria, Castilla y León, I. Baleares. 
  6. Be in the first 6 positions of the ranking in one of the following regional circuits: Asturias, Canary Islands, Extremadura.
  7. To be in the first 4 positions of the ranking in any of the rest of the regional circuits.

JUNIOR AND CADET

  1. Be in the first 6 positions of the F.E.P. Junior ranking.
  2. Be in the first 4 positions of the F.E.P. Cadet ranking.
  3. Be in the first 4 positions of the Junior ranking of one of the following Autonomous Federations: Andalusia, Catalonia, Madrid or Valencian Community.
  4. To be in the first 2 positions of the Junior ranking of the rest of the Autonomous Federations.
  5. Players who, due to their age, are no longer juniors and who meet the minimum WPT requirements in this category on 31 December 2019, as long as they send a certificate from the corresponding federation.
  6. Players who change residence and who certify through their federation of origin their last ranking that meets the minimum requirements, will be allowed to compete in a maximum of 1 tournament during 2020. Thereafter they will only be allowed to participate if they meet the minimum requirements of these regulations.

OTHER COUNTRIES

  1. Be in the top 25 positions of the Argentine ranking (AJPP/APA).
  2. Be in the top 25 positions of the Brazilian ranking (COBRAPA).
  3. Be in the top 25 positions of the French and Portuguese ranking.
  4. Be in the top 20 positions in the Italian and Swedish rankings.
  5. For the rest of the countries, to be in the top 15 positions of their national ranking.

PARTICIPATION IN QUALIFIERS OUTSIDE SPAIN

In the Circuit tournaments played outside Spain, the local Organisation will have the right to organise a Qualifying Tournament to define the pair that will access the final draw through the wild card received. In this case, the PLAYERS must fulfil one of the following conditions:

  • For the men’s category:
    • To be a native player of the organising country and be included in the Official Absolute Ranking of the corresponding Association or National Federation.
    • In case of a wil-card application for the Qualifying Tournament, the wil-card will be granted after the joint approval of the Local Organisation (Association or National Federation) and the WPT Sport Department.
    • Players of a nationality other than that of the host country may participate if they are not ranked in the top 175 positions of the Official WPT Ranking. 
    • NOT HAVING PARTICIPATED IN ANY OF THE QUALIFYING ROUNDS OF THE TOURNAMENT 
  • For the women’s category: 
    • To be a player from the organising country and to be included in the Official Absolute Ranking of the corresponding Association or National Federation. 
    • In case of a wil-card application, the wil-card will be granted after the joint approval of the Local Organisation (Association or National Federation) and the WPT Sport Department.
    • Players of a nationality other than that of the host country may participate if they are not ranked in the ranked in the top 80 positions of the Official WPT Ranking.
    • NOT HAVING PARTICIPATED IN ANY OF THE QUALIFYING ROUNDS OF THE TOURNAMENT

IF YOU DO NOT MEET THE REQUIREMENTS

All those players who do not meet at least one of the above requirements must apply in writing to WPT through the registration form on the official WPT website, being at the discretion of the latter to grant authorization to register and participate in any of the tournaments on the official calendar.
