The USPTA (United States Professional Tennis Association), the USPA (United States Padel Association), All Racquet Sports and Adidas Padel, announce a partnership to support and officially recognize PADEL-U by Adidas.

The support of two of the main racket sports associations in the United States is a great step for the growth of padel in American territory, by the hand of Adidas Padel

With this agreement, the PADEL-U padel certification program becomes the first certification with official recognition and support for padel coaches in the United States.

This international approach is part of Adidas Padel DNA to grow the sport around the world and this partnership is a great example of that. The rise of padel is now a reality and the sport is on track for explosive growth in the United States.

Lee Sponaugle, president of All Racquet Sports stressed the importance of this agreement, “padel is the perfect complement to tennis and other racquet sports in the United States. Starting a sport with a unified approach to teaching and certifying racquet sports professionals is a key to success and growth”.

Marcos del Pilar, International director of PADEL-U by Adidas, firmly believes that education is one of the keys to the growth of padel worldwide and essential to ensure the long-term health of the sport.

“Working together with these associations, we want to set an example and join forces for the immediate development of sport in the United States,” emphasizes Marcos.

PADEL-U by adidas is an international certification and is 100% focused on coaches, facilities and player experience. It is an enhanced evolution of the AFP Academy, which was born in 2018 reinforcing the 360º concept of adidas padel, and represents its values and hallmark.

With this concept ALL FOR PADEL, official licensee of adidas padel worldwide, promotes the international development of the sport offering a complete proposal that includes the construction of tracks, certifications and training of coaches and padel accessories.

All Racquet Sports has already hosted 11 padel certification courses in North America and the Caribbean. Since the first certification in 2018, more than 65 coaches have been certified in Houston, Arkansas, Las Vegas, Miami, Philadelphia, the Bahamas and Tampa, where the next certification will take place in early December.

Padel came to the United States in 1993, when the first court was built in a luxury hotel in Houston, Texas. Since then and with the support of the USPA and the guidance of the FIP (International Padel Federation), the sport has grown steadily.

The USPA’s goal is to seek diversity in racquet sports, taking padel to every corner of the country and demonstrating, among other things, the social component that makes it so fun to play.

In the words of USPA president Sergio Ortiz Tangassi, “this alliance we are forming is just one example of many things to come in the near future, with our main goal of helping padel grow in the U.S. All padel enthusiasts in this country should have the same goals and strive to move the sport in the same direction.

The basis for the growth of a sport is to give it a consistent approach to training teaching professionals.

USPTA is a trade association with over 90 years of history as a world leader in the professional development and certification of tennis professionals. With more than 14,000 members worldwide and 17 divisions nationwide, its main objective is to raise the standards of tennis coaches and teaching professionals.

This partnership represents a giant step forward for the growth of sport in the United States and Adidas Padel helps lead the industry as sport continues to grow around the world in 90 countries.
